CORE FUNCTION
To manage the accounting and finance functions for the division.  The Controller plans, coordinates, and manages day-to-day financial, accounting, costing, budgeting and office administration.  This position is part of the Management team and as such is expected to assist in leading and engaging all team members. 

REPORTING/INTERACTION WITH OTHER STAFF
Work is performed under the direction of the General Manager, the AGI Group Controller in Winnipeg.
Works cooperatively with all team members inside division and other AGI divisions as well as customers and suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership and day to day supervision of accounting and finance functions for the division, including but not limited to the following:
Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
Monthly report outs to management
Prepare regular cash flow and operating forecasts throughout the year.
Perform variance analysis of results compared to budget, prior year, and regular forecasts – on a summary and detailed level.
Perform margin analysis by part / product line / customer as required and make suggestions for improvement in all areas.
Review and analyze quotes, sales orders, approve customer invoices and customer payments, and lead collection activities.
Review and analyze purchase orders, receiving of goods, vendor invoices, and approve payments.
Review and analyze job orders, inventory transactions and ensure controls over inventory / asset management are in place and effective, including supervising quarterly inventory counts and periodic capital asset reviews.
Ensure compliance with applicable sales and use taxes as well as assist in preparation of annual income tax packages.
Helps to prepare annual operating and capital budget with VIS management input.
Works closely with AGI team members and external auditors or accountants.
Acts as an effective performance coach and supervisor to all office team members that report to this position.
Oversees state and local tax compliance
Works as the point of contact for office and facility enquiries.Works closely with the Management team to ensure operations run smoothly.
Maintains confidentiality pertaining to all aspects of team member and company matters.
Cooperate with all areas within the company while developing goals and plans to ensure department and company objectives are met.

Ability to prepare, review and maintain all accounting functions.
Ability to plan, assign and evaluate job tasks.
Ability to delegate appropriate responsibility and authority to area team members.
Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
Experience in the administration and maintenance of accounting systems and processes.
Proven ability to build strong working relationships both internal and external to the organization.
Ability to problem-solve and make sound recommendations pertaining to organization effectiveness.
Communicate effectively both verbal and written.
Analytical thinking and ability to pay attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS
Post secondary education in the area of accounting or finance.Preference to those with an accounting designation or comparable experience.
5 + years of work experience in accounting, preference may be given to those with manufacturing or cost accounting experience.
Past experience in supervising accounting functions and/or team members.
A professional and positive attitude and approach to work.
Proficient with Microsoft office, database management and e-mail communication.
