Electrical Electronics Assembly Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Daily punctuality and attendance are critical as other departments rely on the technicians’ parts to get finished products to another department or to the customer.

  • Performs work in a safe and efficient manner according to NECO’s safety standards and practices.

  • Reads and understands electrical wiring and mechanical layout drawings, electrical and electronic schematics, NECO’s work orders, and tailors assembly according to these varying specifications.

  • Consistent with continuous improvement objectives, this person will continually improve their personal knowledge and skill level regarding control panel manufacturing.

  • Use good time management practices daily to prioritize tasks to achieve results within cost and schedule constraints.

  • Wires control panels, electric motors and electronic assembly components.

  • Assembles several different kinds of rotating contactors.

  • Performs electrical assembly tasks such as cutting, stripping and crimping cables.

  • Performs routine mechanical tasks such as measuring, cutting (using hand tools), drilling and other basic assembly work.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area on a regular basis; one of the five critical “S’s” (sustain) in lean manufacturing principles. 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience (Minimum)                             
High School diploma required
One year, or more experience in Electronic Technology or related field.
The ability to distinguish colors.
Good manual dexterity & experience with basic hand tools and multi-meters
Quality driven person, good self-starter with good attention to detail..

More qualified applicants will have the following:
Associate’s degree in Electronic Technology or related field
Two to three years’ experience in Electronic field.
Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
Previous work experience building electrical panels.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs, schematics, tape measures and blue-prints.

Reasoning Ability                                         

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills & Abilities

This person must have good manual dexterity and solid experience using basic hand tools like screwdrivers, wire strippers, crimpers, cutters, multi-meters, and other specialty tools.
Must be an ambitious self-starter, with a flexible approach to change priorities as needed and work independently requiring minimal direction from the supervisor.
Must also be quality driven with a strong attention to detail.
Must have ability to multi-task while working on numerous projects simultaneously.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus to small objects like wires, soldering, etc.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
