Press-Brake/Machine Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Daily punctuality and attendance are particularly critical on a shift job where minimal staffing is present and minimum of two people required in order to operate that shift. Also, other departments dependent on press-brake operator's materials to get finished products to customers by established deadlines.

  • Must be able to work consistently in a safe and efficient manner with a variety of products,  various components, to finish NECO products.

  • Setup and operate a hydraulic CNC press brake for routine established work.

  • Select correct tooling for the job task according to programs loaded in the software or from supervisory/lead instructions.

  • Load, install and correctly setup the tooling required for each job.

  • Perform assigned work efficiently to both time and quality expectations.

  • Perform routine quality checks according to print specifications and make necessary adjustments when needed

  • Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and completed work.
  • Ensure that all paperwork is correctly filled out and included with components when passed onto the next operation.

Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                         
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least one year of related experience and/or training in manufacturing setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
This person will have a basic knowledge and understanding of metal fabrication, hydraulic press and/or punch press operations, including setup.  Strong background in metal press forming and basic fabrication  preferred.

Mathematical Skills                                                              
Competent at basic dimensional measuring and ability to read tape measure and protractor.  A demonstrated competency in basic shop math: i.e., ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals used in blueprints and other shop drawing aids. 

 Other Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to safely operate a forklift and pass the certification test.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Must have the desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.

  • Must have a strong commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement  and be able to work well in a team environment. 

  • Must be able to understand and support the company’s policies and procedures.
  •  Must be extremely dependable and conscientious in their daily work ethic.

Physical Demands  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for their eight to ten hour shift; good manual dexterity is essential as they regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 20 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, good depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud so PPE is worn. They must be able to perform their work in a fast paced industrial setting, wearing appropriate PPE: steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, etc.
