Operations Manager

  • Provide direction and leadership to the supervisory team to obtain results with employees on a daily basis through training, coaching, development and feedback 
  • Develop and maintain plant culture through positive employee relations 
  • Foster a safe work environment by ensuring safety procedures and policies are adhered to 
  • Drive plant quality systems to improve customer satisfaction 
  • Manage manpower and crewing as production levels require
  • Set and achieve production and delivery targets
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for plant operations
  • Facilitate Lean Manufacturing implementation & sustainment
  • Manage assigned budget accounts. Identify and pursue cost savings opportunities
  • Investigate feasibility and prepare proposals for potential capital investment projects 


  • Significant manufacturing industry background, preferably in steel fabrication, with at least 5 to 7 years’ experience in a Production or Operations managerial role 
  • An effective communicator, leader and trainer who can work with all levels of management and non-supervisory employees to execute the responsibilities of this role 
  • Able to exercise good judgment and creativity when problem solving 
  • Displays enthusiasm for challenge and acts with a sense of urgency 
  • Experience/understanding of Lean manufacturing & Continuous Improvement processes 

Post-secondary engineering/agriculture/commerce degree or equivalent experience would be considered an asset
